How can I restore a Fantastico backup? Print

The easiest way manage Fantastico backups is via the Backups icon in cPanel.

  1. Login to cPanel and click the Backups icon.
  2. Click the "Download or Generate a Full Web Site Backup" button.
  3. Generate Backup in the Home Directory.

When you need the backup restored, you can do it yourself at the same place you've created the backup. If you prefer you can request a restoration of your content from a backup file, simply fill out a support ticket. When you get to the instructions, please clearly indicate what content you want restored (folder, emails, databases, etc) and what you do not want restored., or if you prefer simply submit us a support ticket and we will restore it for you (Note, we do require a service fee to restore the backups for you).

There is another option to try and restore a program to the last time you upgraded that program in Fantastico.

  1. Locate the Fantastico backup file (.tgz) for the program, located in your fantastico_backups/ directory. (Note, this folder only appears after you upgrade a program in Fantastico.)
  2. Extract the backup file to the public_html folder.
  3. Locate the document root folder of the program and delete that folder (including all of the folder's contents).
  4. Go to the public_html and locate the new folder called "home". Inside you will find more folders which lead to a copy of your program's document root folder.
  5. Move this new root folder to where it should be (where you deleted it in step 3).
  6. Go into the new root folder and find the file called backup.sql. Download it to your desktop.
  7. In cPanel, go to the Databases section and click the phpMyAdmin icon.
  8. Select the database which is used by the program and empty it. (If you don't know which name to empty, you should look for this information in the program's configuration file.)
  9. Click the 'Import' tab and browse for the backup.sql file you downloaded to your desktop.
  10. Import the database and your program should be restored.

Reminder: Fantastico backups are only created when an application is upgraded via Fantastico. Otherwise, there is no automated backup.
